Christmas ‘must-hear’ songs – “Michael W Smith – All Is Well”

Michael W Smith has put out a lot of music since his first album in 1983. In 1989 he released his first Christmas album entitled simply ‘Christmas’. The song, ‘All is well’ was co-written by Wayne Kirkpatrick, with whom he has written many, many songs. The 1989 version is orchestral and features soloist Nathan Wadley and the American Boychoir.

Lyrics:

All is well all is well
Angels and men rejoice
For tonight darkness fell
Into the dawn of love’s light
Sing A-le
Sing Alleluia

All is well all is well
Let there be peace on earth
Christ is come go and tell
That He is in the manger
Sing A-le
Sing Alleluia

All is well all is well
Lift up your voice and sing
Born is now Emmanuel
Born is our Lord and Savior
Sing Alleluia
Sing Alleluia
All is well

In 2014, Michael released his fourth Christmas album entitled, ‘‘The Spirit of Christmas’. This album has a newer version of the song with the amazing Carrie Underwood on vocals. The album reached #1 on the billboard holiday album Chart for 2014, I’m sure in part to this version of the song. The album includes songs with some of country music’s most popular artists, including ‘What Child is This’ with Martina McBride, ‘Silent Night’ with Little Big Town, ‘White Christmas’ with Lady Antebellum.

The video below is a live version of the song from the CMA Country Christmas 2014 broadcast.
